1. Policy Statement |
The BF Group is committed to environmental best practice, and the continual improvement of its environmental performance, recognising its obligations both locally and globally, to the present and succeeding generations.
The BF Group aims to participate in best environmental practice, and will set its own demanding standards when none exist.
The BF Group is committed to implementing the requirements of all applicable Commonwealth, State and local legislation and regulations and, where possible, exceeding any relevant minimum requirements.
The BF Group will manage the activities over which it has control and which have an impact on the environment in accordance with the principles of ecological sustainability.
The BF Group will monitor its use of natural resources, both renewable and non-renewable and maximise the efficiency and effectiveness with which they are used, with a view to minimising any environmental impacts.
The BF Group will implement and monitor the objectives set out in this policy, and will periodically review the efficiency and promote their continued development.
The environmental policy of The BF Group will be applicable to all of its activities, wherever our work may be performed. |
2. Policy Implementation |
The BF Group commits itself to establishing and maintaining a formal environmental management system in accordance with this policy.
There are four key areas which focus on the achievement of these goals. |
2.1 Intellectual Leadership |
The BF Group is committed to the promotion of awareness of environmental issues, and ecological sustainability.
The BF Group is committed to acting in an environmentally responsible manner as a member of the Australian community.
The BF Group is committed to working in co-operation with government, industry and the community at large to address environmental issues in general. |
2.2 Pollution and Waste |
The BF Group is committed to waste avoidance, waste reduction, re use and recycling.
The BF Group continually aims to reduce its consumption of materials and energy and to maintain environmentally sound waste management practices. This includes eliminating unnecessary energy use, conservation of energy wherever possible, and maximising the use of renewable energy sources.
The BF Group is committed to the re use of materials wherever practicable and the collection of materials appropriate for recycling.
The BF Group disposes of waste in an environmentally acceptable way and employs the use of accredited ISO 14000 waste disposal organisations to achieve this. |
2.3 Procurement |
The BF Group will regularly monitor, and review wherever practicable, its acquisition of material and energy and its disposal of waste. When services, materials, equipment and energy are purchased, preference will be given to items which cause the least harm to the environment. Equipment designed for "repairability" rather than planned obsolescence will be favoured. |
2.4 Transport |
The BF Group transport and service fleet vehicles are regularly updated and maintained to assist in reducing their environmental impact.
